To celebrate Easter this year as we cannot all be together we have asked our teams both here in the UK and at the distillery in Portugal for some of the things they look forward to at this time of year…
In the UK the main Easter seems to be associated, of course to the giving and receiving of chocolate eggs but also of course the famous Hot Cross Buns. Time is spent with family often enjoying Easter Egg hunts, egg painting and for one of our team, dressing as the Easter Bunny and maypole dancing!
Easter is also the perfect excuse to indulge in Portugal, starting with delicious chocolate almonds, which are very traditional. Folar is also a traditional Easter food that resembles a large loaf of bread, but better looking and tasting. It is made from a special flour that is later filled with sausages of every type.
Easter in Portugal is also synonymous with Pão-de-Ló, a wonderful cake, similar to a sponge cake that can be dry or moist, also depending on your taste and the region you are in – Pão de Ló de Ovar, Pão de Ló de Alfeizerão, Pão de Ló de Margaride, etc. The only differences are in the number of ingredients and the time it stays in the oven!
Happy Easter to our customers and the whole team!
